The City of Big Bear Lake is accepting applications from qualified voters for appointment to the City Council to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of David Caretto, Councilmember representing District 4, effective June 18, 2021.
To be eligible to serve on the City Council, a person must meet three requirements. First, the person must be at least 18 years of age. Second, the person must be a resident of District 4 in the City of Big Bear Lake. Third, the person must be a registered voter of District 4 in the City of Big Bear Lake.
The term of this Council seat is from the date of appointment until the results of the next General Municipal Election of November 2022 are certified, which likely will take place at the first Council meeting in December 2022.
Applications must be received by the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021. Applications received after this date and time will not be accepted.
The City Council will interview qualified candidates at a Special Meeting on Monday, July 26, 2021. At that time, candidates will have the opportunity to present their qualifications and discuss their candidacy with the City Council.
The City Council may make an appointment at the Special Meeting specified above, or may direct staff to place the matter on a future meeting agenda for action. Upon appointment, the successful candidate will be required to complete and file a Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests.
