Bynette Mote has served on the Big Bear Lake City Council since December 2020. Bynette was appointed to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in December 2021. Currently, Bynette serves on several boards & commissions including: the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency Board, Mojave Desert Mountain Integrated Waste Joint Powers Authority Board of Directors, Mountain Transit Board of Directors, the San Bernardino County Solid Waste Advisory Task Force and is also a member of the League of California Cities Transportation, Communication, and Public Works policy committee.
Bynette brings to Council over 25 years of business management leadership in the insurance industry. She has working perspectives from small businesses to large corporations, a strong operational and financial background, effective skillsets in creating policy and procedures, and strategic planning experience. She also held a Director position with our local marketing organization Visit Big Bear for the 2019 season, developed a path for the new Events Department, planned major events like the KC BBQ Grill & Chill Championship and Chili Cook-Off, and managed the TBID event grant program.
As native Californians, both Bynette and her husband Greg have strong ties to family and friends across Southern California. They enjoy spending their leisure time hiking in our National Forest, enjoying the “touristy” activities in the Big Bear Valley, working on their house, lounging with their cats, and volunteering throughout our community. They support many Big Bear organizations with their time, skills, and donations, including Big Bear Trails/SCMF, our Hospital Foundation and the Alpine Zoo just to name a few. You never know where you will find them… whether bike valeting at the Tour de Big Bear, at a fundraiser for DOVES, walking around the Village on a Saturday, building new trails, and they were even spotted as riders on the Big Bear Float in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2019.
Bynette is passionate about shaping a prosperous, sustainable, and beautiful Big Bear Valley that everyone can enjoy for decades to come. She is honored to dedicate her efforts towards achieving these visions in her public service role.
