Bill Jahn has served five (5) terms as Mayor of the City of Big Bear Lake and in 2016 was re-elected (unopposed) to his fourth term on Big Bear Lake City Council. Prior to his first election to the Council in 2004, he served on the City of Big Bear Lake’s Planning Commission as a Member and Chairman.

Bill has represented the City of Big Bear Lake for 12 years on the Board of Directors, San Bernardino County Transit Authority (SBCTA) formerly SanBag. In 2014 he was elected by his colleagues to serve as President of SBCTA. He served as former Chair of the SBCTA Desert/Mountain Division 2014, 2016 and 2017; currently serve as a Board Member and Chair of SBCTA’s Transit Committee, in addition to serving on numerous other Policy Committees.

In 2010 Bill was elected to represent District 11 of Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) representing the cities of Barstow, Yucca Valley, Twenty Nine Palms, Needles, and Big Bear. He has served as First Vice President of SCAG (2018-2019), as well as its Executive Committee and Regional Board. As Second Vice President of SCAG (2017-2018), he chaired the Audit Committee, the 2018 General Assembly Host Committee as well as chairman of the Resolution and By-Laws Committee. He chaired the most recent Fifth Cycle Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) Subcommittee and he also chaired the successful RHNA “Reforms” Sub-Committee. In addition, he has served for four terms as the Chair of the CEHD Committee and was elected to be the President of SCAG in 2019.                                                              

Other activities in our region include former Councilman City of Chino (1982-86), Past President of the League of California Cities Desert/Mountain Division, former Member of California Water Quality Control Board (appointed by Governor Deukmejian) and Past President of the Building Industry Association (BIA) Baldy View Chapter.

In 2016 he was honored to be the recipient of the Larry Chimbole Public Service Award by his colleagues at the League of Cities Desert Mountain Division.

Bill is Executive Vice President of The Northridge Group, Inc. He has over twenty-five years of successful experience in the building industry; he is well versed in land development, construction, and construction management.

Bill has been married to his wife Mary Jo for 33 years, they have six grown children, thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is a licensed general contractor, licensed private pilot and enjoys flying, biking, hiking, boating, traveling and continuously learning.
