Application deadline is April 20, 2011. The City of Big Bear Lake is asking for the community’s help in filling (3) vacancies on the Department of Water & Power (DWP) Board of Commissioners.
The terms of current Board Chairman Steve Foulkes and Commissioners Giamarino and Tarras are set to expire on June 30, 2011.
The DWP Board of Commissioners is a five-member body appointed by the City Council. Currently, the Commission meets the third Tuesday of every month at 9:00 a.m., at the DWP offices on Garstin Road. Responsibilities include decisions related to water conservation, supply, generation, distribution & sale of water and related services. Commissioners are required to attend all regularly scheduled meetings and all subsequent ones the Commission may call for.
To serve on the DWP Board, an appointee must be a registered voter and a resident of an area served by the DWP. (Please note: With the recent passage of Measure W in 2010, applicants are no longer limited to residing within City limits). The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. The City Council will interview prospective candidates.
