BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Every year, the City performs street rehabilitation throughout the City-maintained streets as part of the maintenance program. For Fiscal Year 2026–27, staff has identified approximately 1.5 centerline miles of City streets for pavement rehabilitation. The selection of street segments for the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Street Rehabilitation Project is based on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) ratings resulting from a citywide pavement condition assessment conducted to evaluate the condition of all City-maintained roadways. In addition to the PCI ratings, streets are assessed and considered based upon field observations from the Public Works Department staff and records of calls or inquiries for potholes and other road condition concerns.
For the 2026–27 Fiscal Year, work will take place on the streets listed below.

- Switzerland Drive (Storm Drain Improvements Only)

- Shasta Road
- Meadow View Drive
- Berkley Lane
- Snowcrest Drive

PROJECT LOCATION
The areas that will be rehabilitated throughout the City of Big Bear Lake are shown below.
ENVIRONMENTAL
This project was categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to section 15301(c) Existing Facilities as repair and maintenance of existing streets and highways.
FUNDING
The project was funded through several sources including the City’s General Fund, Sanitation Fund and Measure Y Fund, as well as restricted roadway funding through Measure I RMRA Account.
CONSTRUCTION & SCHEDULE
The City Council awarded a construction contract to Bear Valley Paving during its Regular Meeting on June 10, 2026, after a public bid process. Work began on July 8, 2026, and is scheduled to be completed in October of 2026.
